Level 2 Teaching Assistant (Oldway)
18 hours per week - Fixed Term until August 2026

Oldway is a popular school which serves the local community in Paignton, South Devon. With 591 pupils on roll, we are a large primary school. We have an extensive and experienced workforce with a great deal of expertise, and are able to provide a vibrant learning experience for our pupils.
Oldway Primary School is part of the Riviera Education Trust which is a multi-academy trust comprising three local primary schools: Oldway Primary School, Shiphay Learning Academy and Roselands Primary School. We work in collaboration with Roselands Primary School and Shiphay Learning Academy in order to benefit all of the children in the Trust. Working in partnership with other schools helps to strengthen our provision and provide educational excellence so that every pupil has the best possible learning experience and is prepared for future life.
We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to join our team on a fixed term basis, who is passionate about engaging learners, and supporting them to achieve their best. The role will involve providing 1:1 support as part of our "team around" approach for EHCP pupils, as well as offering general small group support within the classroom.
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is:
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and creative in supporting learners;
- Committed to working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for every child;
- Able to maintain high expectations for themselves and the children they work with;
- Flexible and adaptable in meeting the needs of different learners;
- Reflective and eager to develop their own practice;
- Equipped with a sense of humour and fun to thrive in a busy, ever-changing environment;
- Experienced in supporting children, although training will be provided for those new to the role.
Criteria for the post:
- Recent experience working with primary-aged pupils (preferred);
- English and Mathematics GCSE (minimum Grade C) or equivalent (essential);
- Additional relevant qualifications, such as an NVQ (preferred but not essential).

Salary:
NJC scale point C3, £10,539 per annum (£24,796 FTE)
Working Hours: 08:.45 – 15:15 (with 30 minute lunch break) for 39 weeks per year.
