Reflecting back on the first two years of my teaching career, I have to admit I have been exceptionally lucky to spend them with Riviera Education Trust. One of the great things about being part of a trust like this, is that there is always an expert you can go to for advice when you're struggling with something, anything! This I did countless times, always feeling that I was surrounded by empathetic and knowledgeable colleagues who cared about my students, and I, being successful.
I particularly loved seeing the coaching process of the ECF being adopted across the school, moving us from what could, in other schools, feel like critical and stress-inducing observation to feedback in the moment and team-teaching based professional development.
One day, I hope to use the skills I have learned here, and the examples set to me by my colleagues, to nurture the next generation of Early Career Teachers myself.
In addition to regular, high quality CPD designed to help develop and support you in the next steps in your career, all staff have an annual appraisal and mid-year review.
To ease you in to work, new staff are provided with induction and are part of a buddying and mentoring system to ensure you are happy, understand how the school works and that your pastoral needs are met as well as your professional needs.

I joined the Riviera Education Trust in my first ECT year as a Reception teacher. The support and guidance I have received has been amazing, and I truly believe it has shaped me into the teacher I am today.
The trust provides opportunities for ECTs to visit other schools and observe inspirational teaching. We have access to high quality CPD and the coaching we receive from our ECT mentor gives us time to truly embed new ways of teaching, without the added pressure of feeling like you are being watched or judged.
My colleagues have all been so approachable and no question is a silly one. I have felt truly supported by everyone and I always feel encouraged to believe in myself and my own abilities. I feel proud to be part of the Riviera family.
I am confident that the training I have received throughout my ECT years has equipped me with the tools to be a reflective, passionate practitioner who is always striving to succeed.
