I became a parent governor shortly after my eldest son started at Roselands. I have a professional background in Speech & Language Therapy and am now employed as the manager of a large multi-disciplinary specialist NHS team.

Alongside being a parent, much of my free time is also spent volunteering as a member of the local Coastguard rescue team.
I am passionate about upholding the values of the school to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

I share with the governors' board my experience in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND), safeguarding, communication and leadership.

Since my daughter started her education career with Roselands I have looked for an opportunity to support the school. With my son now attending and my wife working for the school I am thrilled to have been accepted as a parent governor.

My professional background is in facilities management and property consultancy supporting education clients which gives me an opportunity to help Roselands in many different ways.

I am keen to help in any way I can to ensure our young people have the best possible start in life and see my role as a parent governor as an important part of their school journey.

Becoming a governor at Roselands presents a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a place that has been a significant part of my life. My path from primary school student to teacher at Roselands provided a valuable understanding of its community and educational ethos.

Since leaving mainstream teaching in 2023, I've gained broader experience in Outdoor Education, working with a variety of schools nationwide. This has provided me with diverse perspectives on educational practices. My dedication to education remains strong, and I firmly believe that every child deserves access to the best possible opportunities.

As a governor, I aim to apply my skills, experience, and commitment to support the school's objectives and maintain a high standard of education for all students.

I have lived in Roselands for the last 12 years and have 2 sons who also attend the school. I have joined the governing body as I am passionate about education and supporting children holistically with a focus on wellbeing.

I trained as a primary school teacher and bring skills and knowledge around SEND, safeguarding and supporting families. My role at an all through special school (reception to sixth form) has meant that no two days are ever the same. I have gained skills in being solution focused and constantly reflective. These are all skills that I am excited to share in my role as governor at a school that is so well valued by its community.

Welcome to our Governors’ section

The Local Standards Board (LSB) is responsible for monitoring standards and school improvement within their school. They hold school leaders to account and report back to the trustees.

At Roselands Primary School, our LSB meets regularly throughout the school year and governors will often spend time in the school to monitor school improvement and standards at a local level.

"Governors are part of the overall system of school accountability. They have a vital role to play in driving up school and pupil performance and ensuring every child receives the best possible education."
