As a teacher at a local secondary school, I have a specific skills set which enables me to support Oldway Primary School as a governor.

My two young children also attend Oldway Primary School which has sparked my interest in primary education and a desire to give something back to the school community.

It is fantastic to have the opportunity to work alongside the staff and pupils at Oldway Primary School, to ensure that all children are accessing a holistic, exciting and dynamic education.

With my daughter attending Oldway and my son due to start in the near future, I really wanted to be able to provide my support and experience to their excellent school community.

My role as teacher and leader at a local secondary school, with a remit involving safeguarding attendance and student wellbeing, should provide me with the skills and insight required to help Oldway to continue to maintain high standards. Getting to work alongside the amazing staff and pupils is such a wonderful opportunity.

I have almost forty years of experience in education at all levels in both College and University settings and, throughout that time, a common theme I’ve noted is how critical it is for young children to get the best possible start in order for them to flourish and progress. I have the highest regard for Oldway Primary School. My two children benefited from being educated at the school and my wife also worked there for many years. I hope that I can be of use to the School as it continues to provide the best outcomes for children and a positive supportive environment for the staff who work there.

Welcome to our Governors’ section

The Local Standards Board (LSB) is responsible for monitoring standards and school improvement within Oldway school. They hold school leaders to account and report back to the trustees of Riviera Education Trust.

At Oldway Primary School, our LSB meets at least three times throughout the school year and governors will often spend time in school to monitor school improvement and standards at a local level.

"Governors are part of the overall system of school accountability. They have a vital role to play in driving up school and pupil performance and ensuring every child receives the best possible education."
