Teaching Assistant Level 2 ( x 3 posts, Permanent/Fixed Term)

The Trustees of Riviera Education Trust and Governors of Oldway Primary School thank you for your interest in the posts of Level 2 Teaching Assistant at our Outstanding school. The successful candidates to these positions will be expected to take up post from 6 January 2020.


You will support learning and teaching within a class or year group that meets the learning needs and interests of our pupils. Learning will focus on key skills in early English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and all areas of either the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum or National Curriculum.  A key aspect of the role will be ‘in-the-moment feedback’, extending children’s thinking when engaging alongside them in their learning.  In addition, you will also provide small-group and 1:1 intervention to support children’s learning and progress, developing pupils’ independence, curiosity and resilience, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to teachers.  You will also share responsibility for creating an exciting and stimulating learning environment, both inside and outside the classroom.


Within the full-time position vacancy, there is the possibility (for interested candidates with suitable experience and confidence) to contribute to the teaching and learning in the year team through cover of whole classes in the year group in which you are based – supported by year group colleagues and from shared planning and resources.  When covering classes, teaching assistants are paid in line with the unqualified teacher pay scale.  This may be of interest to support staff wishing to progress into teacher training or for very experienced teaching assistants who are able to demonstrate their ability to manage whole classes effectively.


Along with a large team of experienced support staff, you will be well-supported by the teachers in the year team, the Year Leader, Pastoral Manager and SENCO, along with in-school Specialist Leaders of Education in English and maths.  You will benefit from a supportive induction programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as Continuing Professional Development and opportunities to engage in action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching School Alliance.  


There are 3 posts available:

Post 1 - Morning - Permanent from 6th January 2020.
Starting salary is £8,884 which is Grade C, Scale point 3 and based on 21.25 hours per week (Monday to Friday), for 39 weeks per year (Full Time Equivalent £18,065). 

 

Post 2 - Afternoon - Fixed Term from 6th January 2020 to 31st August 2020. 
Starting salary is £6,794 which is Grade C, Scale point 3 and based on 16.25 hours per week (Monday to Friday), for 39 weeks per year (Full Time Equivalent £18,065). 

                                                    

Post 3 -  Full Time - Fixed Term from 6th January 2020 to 31st August 2020. 
Starting salary is £11,497 which is Grade C, Scale point 3 based on 27.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday), for 39 weeks per year (Full Time Equivalent £18,065). 
  
Visits to the school are encouraged and have been organised for:
·         Wednesday 4 December at 1.30pm
·         Friday 6 December at 10.00am
·         Monday 9 December at 4.00pm
