Part-time KS1/KS2 Intervention Teacher

The Trustees of Riviera Education Trust and Governors of Oldway Primary School thank you for your interest in the fixed term post of Intervention Teacher at our Outstanding school. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to take up the post in the summer term on Monday 19 April 2021.

The Trustees and Governors seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to join our 3-form entry school to support teaching and learning.

This new post will support intervention across KS1 and KS2 as part of the Catch-Up Premium.

You will lead intervention with children across KS1 and KS2, planning and delivering exciting, creative and engaging activities that meet the needs and interests of identified pupils, supporting their catch up.  This may be leading small-group and 1:1 intervention, and may also include releasing class teachers so that they can provide intervention to targeted pupils.

Intervention will focus on key skills in English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and learning behaviours.  In-class teaching could include all areas of the primary curriculum.  A key aspect of the role will be supporting parents and carers in their children’s learning, developing pupils’ independence and curiosity, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to class teachers, year leaders, parents and carers, and senior leaders.

You will be well-supported by class teachers, the year leader in each year group, Oldway’s assistant heads, SENCO and Pastoral Manager as well as in-school Specialist Leaders of Education and in-school Local Authority moderators. You will benefit from a supportive induction programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as being given opportunities for Continuing Professional Development and action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching School Alliance, as a strategic partner of Teaching Schools South West. You will also have the opportunity to join a Subject Development Team where you will contribute to the development of a subject or area of school improvement across the school, whilst developing your own leadership skills.

In your application, please describe the skills and experience that make you suited to the role, as well as your aspirations in terms of primary school teaching, middle leadership and school leadership, as well as your interests and how you would hope to contribute to the wider life of the school.

Please see the job description below for further details regarding this post.

Salary will be pro rata
