Oldway Standards Board
Maria Bailey
(Acting Chair)

Becoming a governor is my way of ‘giving back’ to this brilliant school that my three children have had the privilege to attend. I have been able to learn a lot about education and standards, and I bring plenty of business and well-being experience to support the school with its commitment to quality teaching and high standards.

I have 2 children currently attending Oldway so I get to see first-hand what a great school it is.
I would like to help support the school to continue its great work to ensure that every opportunity is explored to improve further.

With my first daughter starting at Oldway, I wanted to find a way of supporting the school and giving back to a great place for children to learn and thrive, academically, socially and emotionally. I hope that my skills, knowledge and experience can help in any way to improve the school and the experiences of the children who attend. It is a privilege to be a part of the local standards board at Oldway primary school.
Term of Office: 04/10/2021 - 03/10/2025

As my children start their journeys through education I wanted to support them and our fantastic school Oldway Primary. Schools like Oldway play such an important role in our community and are the foundations for a healthy society, I am proud to support Oldway and our community wherever possible.

Welcome to our Governors’ section
The Local Standards Board (LSB) is responsible for monitoring standards and school improvement within Oldway school. They hold school leaders to account and report back to the trustees of Riviera Education Trust.
At Oldway Primary School, our LSB meets at least three times throughout the school year and governors will often spend time in school to monitor school improvement and standards at a local level.
"Governors are part of the overall system of school accountability. They have a vital role to play in driving up school and pupil performance and ensuring every child receives the best possible education."
