Level 3 Pastoral Assistant (Oldway)

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
The Governors and Trustees of Oldway Primary are looking to appoint a full-time Pastoral Assistant (Level 3) to join our successful and oversubscribed, Outstanding primary school. This is a temporary, fixed-term post to support the recovery curriculum and to expand our provision within the inclusion team. Oldway is a large, 3-form entry, inclusive primary school and nursery in the heart of Paignton, Torbay.
The position will involve working within a team of Pastoral Assistants under the guidance of the SENCO and Family Support Worker to provide support in addressing the needs of pupils to overcome barriers to learning, including social, emotional and mental health needs. This may include pupils whose progress and emotional well-being is impacted by:
- Attendance and punctuality
- Bereavement, separation and loss
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Social communication skills
- Parental support and engagement
- Learning difficulties
- Mental health

- Recent experience of supporting pupils with additional needs, particularly within the areas of social, emotional and mental health
- Experience of supporting pupils with social communication difficulties, i.e. autism

The working hours are 21.25 hours per week (8.45am- 13.00pm). The starting salary will be £9,498 which is Grade D, Scale Point 5, for 39 weeks per year (Full Time Equivalent £19,312).
