Classroom Teacher and Maths Subject Leader (TLR)



The Trustees of Riviera Education Trust and Governors of Oldway Primary School thank you for your interest in the post of Maths Subject Leader (TLR) at our Outstanding, 3-form entry primary school. 


We are seeking to appoint to an exciting new post at Oldway Primary School, in the leadership of maths across the school and as a member of the School Leadership Team.  This permanent role is awarded a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) payment as well as dedicated, weekly time out of class for monitoring and support of progress and standards in maths across the school.  The successful candidate for this permanent position will be expected to take up post on Thursday 3 September 2020.


As a class teacher, you will lead learning and teaching within a KS1 or KS2 class, planning and delivering an exciting, creative and engaging curriculum that meets the needs and interests of all pupils within the class. You will deploy support staff effectively to support, extend and assess pupils’ learning. Learning will focus on key skills in English and maths as well as personal development and all areas of the National Curriculum. A key aspect of the role will be supporting parents in their children’s learning, developing pupils’ independence and curiosity, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to parents and school leaders. You will also be responsible for creating an exciting, stimulating and hands-on learning environment for the pupils in your class. 


As the Maths Subject Leader for the school, you will be supported by a committed teaching staff, the experienced leadership team and the year leaders across the school as well as the maths subject leaders across the Trust at Roselands Primary School and Shiphay Learning Academy, the Torbay Teaching School Alliance’s network of maths subject leaders and the Trust’s Director of Education in their role as South West Maths Mastery Lead.  


You will benefit from a supportive Induction Programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as Continuing Professional Development and opportunities to engage in action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching School Alliance.

Salary will be in accordance with the Teachers Pay Spine, dependent upon qualifications and experience, with a Teaching and Learning Responsibility payment (TLR 2).
