Shiphay Learning Academy is part of the Riviera Education Trust which is a multi-academy trust consisting of three local primary schools: Shiphay Learning Academy, Roselands Primary School and Oldway Primary School. We all work in collaboration in order to benefit all of the children in the Trust. Working in partnership with other schools helps to strengthen our provision and provide educational excellence so that every pupil has the best possible learning experience and is prepared for future life.
Shiphay Learning Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and resourceful full time caretaker, to care and maintain our Outstanding School. The ideal candidate needs to have a good basic DIY skills for the effective operation of site services such as cleaning, porterage, grounds maintenance, minor repairs and maintenance.
Duties will include premises management, security of the buildings and site. An essential aspect of the role will be maintaining inside and outside environments to a high standard so that they meet Health and Safety requirements. For this reason, an aptitude for repairs, maintenance and problem solving with a can-do attitude are essential. An electrical or plumbing qualification would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
The successful candidate will be part of the school team and also the wider Trust Premises Team and, while their main base will be at Shiphay, they will be required to work across all sites within the Trust when needed. A strong team ethos is a key part of Shiphay’s core values, and the successful candidate must be able to relate well to both pupils and adults. In addition to being capable for this post, candidates will need to demonstrate their suitability for working with children.
This role will report to our Operations Manager and also to the Head of School for Shiphay Learning Academy.
The successful candidate is required to work Monday - Friday 07:00 - 12:00 then returning at 15:30 - 18:30 (18:00 on a Friday).
The commencing salary will be £19,554 which is Grade E, Scale point 7 based on 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday), for 52 weeks per year.
Annual Leave starts at 25 days a year plus Bank Holidays.
As part of our admissions policy, should the successful applicant have primary aged children who they wish to have educated in one of our Trust Schools, they will have preferential access to a school place.
