Stephen Criddle OBE
Stephen Criddle is the Principal and CEO of South Devon College an Ofsted Outstanding general further education college.
Stephen joined South Devon College in 2003 as part of a leadership team transforming the College and in 2009 became Principal & CEO. He has worked in education for over 20 years following time in industry and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
Stephen is a trustee of the Devon Studio School and the South Devon UTC Trust and is passionate about the role of further education in raising aspiration, ambition and opportunities for local communities.
Stephen was enthusiastic to become a member of the Riviera Education Trust in order to support the schools' aspiration for our primary children to have the best possible learning experience and great progression opportunities for their future lives.
In his working life Neil is a Senior Strategic Change Consultant for a large national voluntary sector charity. Neil has experience of supporting trustees and management teams around governance, operations and change management. Neil feels that his experience and skills are easily transferable to working with Academy Trusts particularly at this time of great change within education. Neil is particularly interested in the Riviera Education Trust as his son attended one of the schools in the Trust.
Neil identifies, through his work with charities, that education is one of the key factors in determining peoples’ life chances and well–being. Therefore he is very keen to be involved in shaping the future of our very young people by contributing to the exciting development and future of the Riviera Education Trust.
Jamie joined Oldway Governing Body as a Parent Governor in 2007, during this time his son and daughter attended and have now both left the school. Jamie has been a part of the school governance during many changes. His commitment and enthusiasm to challenge and continually improve standards has been key to his continued interest.
As a Member and Trustee of Riviera Education Trust, along with being Chair of Oldway Local Standards Board, Jamie enjoys being able to influence the long term strategic plans for the Trust as well as monitor and support the schools and ensure the standards in each school are exceeded, providing the best opportunities for each and every pupil.
In his time away from school, Jamie runs Marldon Marquees and spends a lot of time rock climbing around Devon.
Su was appointed as a Member of Riviera Education Trust in 2018 following her initial appointment as a parent Governor in 2013, followed by many years serving as a Trustee. She has enjoyed being involved in the Trust's development and being part of the crucial system of checks, balances and constructive challenge which ensure that our children have access to the best educational experiences available to them.
In her professional life Su is a Solicitor specialising in employment law, advising employers, including local authorities and schools, on complex internal HR issues, business sales and acquisitions, restructures and the defence of employment tribunal claims.
The majority of Su's spare time is taken up supporting her two sons' competitive swimming hobby, involving lots of bleary-eyed early morning training sessions and long weekends spent at swim meets, but also enjoys camping with friends and family when she gets a chance.
